Sandwich Making

Since 1985 Catalina has made 1,000 sack lunches (that's 2,000 sandwiches!) every 8 weeks to feed the needy, indigent and homeless through the Casa Maria organization in Tucson.  Come join us at 7 a.m. on Saturday mornings for about 2 hours of fun (it really is!) and help feed the less fortunate in our community.  Just click on Events to show a calendar for the next "Sandwich Making" or call the church office at 327-6655 for more information.

Support Nightlight in Bangkok!

The Dieselbergs work with this fantastic ministry which combats human trafficking and offers a hopeful tomorrow to many women otherwise trapped in the sex trade in Bangkok. These women are employed as jewelry makers, and you can support them today by making a purchase of their jewelry at www.nightlightbangkok.com.

About Human Trafficking (from nightlightbangkok.com)

“Trafficking in human beings is now the third-largest moneymaking venture in the world, after illegal weapons and drugs. In fact, the United Nations estimates that the trade nets organized crime more than $12 billion a year” (Victor Malarek The Natashas: Inside the New Global Sex Trade).

According to a CIA report, 700,000 to 2 million women and children worldwide are victimized by traffickers each year. The UN estimates that around 4 million people a year are now traded against their will to work in some form of slavery.

As many as 50,000 women and children from Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe are brought to the U.S. under false pretenses each year and forced to work as prostitutes, abused laborers or servants (Joel Brinkley NYT citing CIA report).
